Dearie
Updated: Dec 7, 2021
Dearie is a 2013 16h OTTB gelding. I watched this horse gallop at the track and he immediately caught my attention. He had a lovely effortless way of going and was all business on the track. I went back to his trainers barn and we chatted for a while about him. It was easy to see that he was a personal favorite and extremely well cared for. His trainer wasnt quite ready to retire him when I first met him so I checked back in at every visit to the track until he was. Dearie did not dissapoint when I finally got him home. I was shocked at how nice this horse went in his first ride. I have not met a horse with a softer mouth. This horse felt like one that has been brought along by someone with a classical dressage background. You do not have to touch this horses mouth to keep him in the contact. He rides completly off of your seat and leg. He has three fancy and quality gaits with plenty of suspension. He is extremely balanced and does not lean or pull on the contact whatsoever. While I would consider him still green because he is only lightly restarted, he is going to extremely easy to bring along. This horse is incredibly classy undersaddle and has a fantastic work ethic. We sent Dearie through the jump chute and he was even more impressive. This horse can jump! He is extremely clever, has very tidy high knees, and lovely bascule. There is plenty of scope in this horse. Dearie made my staff do a double take when he first arrived because he looks, moves, and goes just like my homebred Oldenburg, just two inches shorter. Dearie did crib on his webbing (stall guard) at the track. However, we do not have webbings on our stalls, but a full stall door and havent heard/noticed him cribbing since arriving at my farm. We have not put a collar on him because we havent observed the behavior, but it is extremely likely if he were to crib, a collar would prevent it. Otherwise, he has no other vices and is sound. He is RRP eligible. Loacted in Flushing Michigan. Middle/upper fours. Please pm or call for more information.
